Founded in 1998 by electronic music producer Ben Arp, C/A/T has had one mission since it’s inception and that is to always evolve the sound. The early beginnings found Arp producing music in the experimental electronic scenes that were flourishing near his Sacramento, CA home base in the last days of the 1990s. The next major evolution in the mid ’00s found Arp using the C/A/T name to release “rhythmic noise” influenced material on the, now defunct, Crunch Pod label he founded in the late 90s.

By 2010, C/A/T had once again evolved into an EBM project and at it’s peak during this period, Arp was his most active as a live peformer in the EBM / Industrial scene.

In late 2011, after the dissolution of his Crunch Pod label after over a decade of operations, Arp decided to put C/A/T on hiatus. Faced with, as he saw it, declining “dark music scene” Arp put his focus on his glitch / ambient self-titled project as well as his downtempo / instrumental hip hop project Captive Six.

It was also around this time that Arp discovered the growing witch house movement and began to appreciate a new take on “dark music”. In early 2012, Arp announced that he’d be bringing C/A/T off hiatus to reboot the project with a new sound. Heavily influenced by “witch house”, dark ambient and what he calls “outsider underground hip hop” the new era of C/A/T was born.

Three worthless beings have composed expressive and negative music in between bouts of illness, insanity, and incarceration. DJ Pleasure Kitten has always had a passion for music. Since her start, she has traveled the US, holding multiple residencies including IGUN/iNation and Leland City Club, 2 of the largest industrial nights/venues in the US. She has also shared the stage and decks with many different artists and fellow DJ’s. Notable events include her spot at the Motorpop 3 Festival in Detroit, MI with Combichrist, Stromkern, Imperative Reaction and Ayria at St. Andrews Hall, the 2010 Detroit Music Awards, the Official Depeche Mode afterparty for the Detroit date of the ‘Playing the Angel’ tour, the Industrial Revolution in Cleveland, Industrial 101 in Royal Oak, MI and Das Bunker Atlanta as well as opening for such acts as Blaqk Audio, Haf-Life, Crud, Firewerk, C/A/T, Martin Atkins, Seabound and much more.

Currently, Pleasure Kitten resides in Detroit and works as a promoter, as well as resident DJ at the historic Leland City Club and Northern Lights Lounge. She is also the winner of the “Outstanding Electronic/Dance DJ” award from the 2012 Detroit Music Awards.

WTII Records is an independent record label that was formed in 2001 by former WaxTrax! refugee, Bart Pfanenstiel and long time friend David Schock.

Formation
The concept behind WTII actually started in 1999 while Bart was still employed at Wax Trax!  During that labels final year, Bart and Dannie Flesher (co-founder of Wax Trax!) had worked hard to move the label into the modern era of electro/industrial music by tapping into the new breed of bands making there way to the states from Europe. One of these connections was the signing of VNV Nation to Wax Trax!  With these new connections in place, the timing seemed right to create a new outlet for these artists to release their material and to try to rekindle the spirit of Wax Trax!’s early years.

With a strong knowledge of the label side of things, Bart enlisted the help of Dave to help get things rolling.  Dave had spent several years at a small independent music distributor and had built strong relationships with several key mom-n-pop and chain stores across the country.  With the groundwork in place, the two quickly licensed three artists:  In Strict Confidence, Controlled Fusion & Melotron.  On January 1st 2001 WTII Records was born.

Label Overview
Over the years the label roster has continued to grow with a plethora of artists that vary in sound and style. With releases from artists like Stromkern, Klutae, Beborn Beton, Method Cell, Stiff Valentine, The Qualia, The Gothsicles, Dessau, Attrition, Trigger 10d, State of the Union, In Strict Confidence, HMB & cut.rate.box, WTII has been pushing the electronic spectrum to new limits.

WTII’s artist’s have completed several US tours as both a headliner and support act, performed at numerous festivals and played hundreds of one offs across the globe.

In 2006, to celebrate the label’s 5th Anniversary, WTII released a promotional compilation entitled “The 5 Year Hits” aka the “WTII 5th Anniversary Compilation.” The album was compiled by Chicago DJ Jeff Moyer and Bart Pfanenstiel, mixed by Moyer, engineered by Chicago DJ Pulz-8, mastered by Chris Randall of Sister Machine Gun.

In 2011 the label celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a 4 day festival in Chicago which featured performances from WTII artists  among other local & national acts.
